On the 14th May 1976 Keith Relf the singer and harmonica player with the Yardbirds, also singer and guitarist with Renaissance and Armageddon and other bands was electrocuted in his home studio when he was playing an unearthed guitar and his foot touched a gas pipe . As Keith had other health problems mainly due to Asthma he was unable to survive the shock. A lot of people have said that without his influences a lot of British music of the 60's and 70's would have sounded different. R.I.P.
Harvey the Roadie.
P.S. Tonight the 14th was the Barbarellas in Birmingham, England gig on the 1974 tour with Arthur and Love. Tomorrow night was at the Speakeasy in London.

Thanks, Harv.

Keith and the Yardbirds were one of the most innovative & greatest groups ever, and the beginnings of three of the greatest guitarists too. Clapton, Beck and Page. The Yardbirds genius and unique sound shaped many to come.

My 1965 garage band covered "Shapes"...a single like no other of its day.

And his later efforts with Renaissance (and his sister on vocals) were amazing!

Shapes...a great video... Totally groundbreaking guitar solo unheard of in its day.

RIP

I wouldn't be surprised if Arthur was a bit influenced by The yardbirds and Keith...that cool frontman personality...
