Forever Changes (The Alternate Mix)
I often choose the Deluxe Edition box, alt mix album over the original. it seems looser and much more "punchy", especially Kenny and Michael who are mixed way down in the final vinyl mix. That bothered Michael enough to confront Arthur about it but of course Arthur would have none of that. The tracks are "are used, nothing left to play with", he said.
In the alt mix there are also count downs by Arthur, and very different endings. "The Red Telephone" does not fade-out in the alt mix. It actually ends with a final acoustic guitar, which seems so right. To my ears, producers often use a fade-out way to much instead of letting the song end, Sure it works sometimes to great effect, but often it seems like a way to shorten a long song. Don't like it.
Just listen to the way the boys of Love thought "The Red Telephone" should end before Jac and Bruce edited it...I love it!
