The only song I have little or tolerance for is that frigen droll and far overly pretentious "Twelve Days Of Christmas".No matter how great the singer is,NO ONE can deliver this one without inducing light vomiting.I kind of like Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas(isYou)"Probably THE most classic Yuletide Fave is is cowboy Gene Autrey's "Rudoplh the Red Nosed Reindeer".Tied with "12 Days" for most annoying of this genre-"Jingle Bells" by the barking dogs! |

If 'Magical Mystery Tour' counts as Christmas music then I am including that.

We're all overlooking the obvious here. John & Yoko's "Happy Christmas,War is Over(If You Want It)". |

Oh - If that's the case, then I got Pink Floyd's "The Wall" for Christmas in 1979! Otherwise, my favourite Christmas track, apart from the obvious and utterly excellent "Fairytale Of New York", is probably Mud's "Lonely This Christmas", UK Christmas No. 1 in 1974 and often wrongly attributed to Elvis - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZ8-UT8ojrk&hl=en-GB&gl=GB . Les Gray, RIP.
Merry Christmas from a very wet Scotland, everyone!

I've always loved the version of Santa Baby from the websites main page...the intro sounds so much like the outro to 7 and 7 is. Does anyone know which album it could be found on?
I listened to The Mermen-Do You Hear What I Hear: A Very Mermen Christmas quite a bit this holiday season. Great band.
Here is a live cover of Happy Christmas by the mermen

Great indie folk/rock/soul from Amos Lee....get any of his works you can, and your 'soul' will soar!
AMOS LEE
Listen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anPXc3PJWjU
Amos Lee (born June 22, 1977 as Ryan Anthony Massaro[1][2]) is an American singer-songwriter whose musical style encompasses folk, rock and soul. He was born in Philadelphia and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in English. After working as a schoolteacher and bartender he began to pursue a career in music. His manager submitted a demo recording to Blue Note Records which resulted in a recording contract and an association with Norah Jones.
Since that time Lee has recorded four albums on Blue Note Records and has toured as an opening act for Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Paul Simon, Merle Haggard, Van Morrison, John Prine, Dave Matthews Band, Adele, and the Zac Brown Band, and his music has appeared on the soundtracks of numerous TV shows and movies. He has performed on several late night TV shows and at a voter registration rally for Barack Obama. In 2011, his album Mission Bell debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart[3][4][5] and his music has been described as "1970s folk rock and rustic soul".

hmmm...well all this info was sure so good since I haven't really added some new Christmas songs to my list each year! There are some real interesting ones which I no doubt will get. With me, I notcie I was playing those older songs from Frank, Dean etc. you know them. I guess it's the nostalgia kids! Love Dean's "Marshmallow World". He's got a way with that holiday song. And them I'll add Enya's Christmas Secrets album. Not too many songs but she sure gets the spirit of the season right on. Ans hey best to you all for 2013! |

Don't ask
I might get some people really upset at me if I recommend this - but how about Dylan's Christmas in the Heart?
Its pretty uproarious, though I think it'll help if you're into stuff like Golden Throats before listening!
If you're listening to the album while driving I'm afraid you might veer off the road!
Yep, it must be Santa alright! :
