Well first time I've seen Arthur and the boys in a working mens club!!
Venue was packed (circa 700)and a great reception was given to the band. Arthur on good form and seems like he's just about holding it together. He did forget a few words and timing in Singing Cowboy but the band improvised well especialy Mr.Echolls.Signed DC get's better every time I hear it and Johnny adds more licks each time it is played.
As like Sheffield the band had already left the stage when Arthur starts announcing Seven and Seven is ,cue the band running back on.
Arthur and Johnny spent a lot of time after the gig signing for the fans , which boosted CD sals I'm sure.
Asusual I was drawn to the Kronenberg on drauht and am paying the consequences this morning. I'll never learn!!!
Good to meet Johnnywas from the board , take care mate. He's moving to Istanbul and had postponed it a week to see the tour. Maybe if Arthur fancies going to Turkey?!. Although I don't know of that would be a good idea!! Midnight Express and all.
Glasgow next for me whichshouldbe a bit of a party night
Sat on the floor of Leeds College of Technology in 1969 (or was it 1970?) Love opened with August & this then 20 year old hairy guy could never imagine that some 35 years later (with much, much less hair & a grandchild) I would be watching the same band at the Irish Centre. Anyone out there remember that gig all those years ago? Love were promoting their Four Sail elpee & were in those days revered in a manner that was unique. There were bigger selling bands, but none were held in such reverance as Love. I believe that old venue is now called the Met bar. The Leeds gig Friday 8th was brilliant & it was good to see some even older dudes than myself in the crowd. Hurry back Arthurly (yes I know). Tony.
I didn't go the Leeds College gig in 1970 but I did see Love at Waltham Forest Technical College in the same year during the same round of gigs. As you say in those days we all used to sit on the floor to watch them - now we're all 35 years older we end up standing all night - LOL!
Didn't go to gig in '69 (am 37) but introduced via scratched vinyl in '88 and hooked since. I found 2 legends that I thought lost forever at Leeds last night enhanced by fantastic Mike and co - the huge audience dug it, and so did Arthur. He didn't qant to leave the stage. Love is getting bigger 2nd time round and I'm loving it.
