OH YEAH! A very lean and simple folk outing, bu this was a young 18 year old John Martyn...the music world would become his oyster.

"London conversation was the first time I heard John martyn. Everything about the album, the lyrics, the voice, the feeling and the guitar playing consumed me with a desire to play it again and again and also to try and learn how to play the songs.
I am amazed no-one has ever tried to tab this cd into a book. Highlights for me are Cocaine, Sandy grey, Ballad of an Elder Woman, Fairy Tale Lullaby, Back to Stay and, well, just about all of them.

"This was the first full album i heard by John Martyn and has remained my favourite since purhcasing Grace & Danger, Solid Air, One World etc. All of his work is marvellous but this has so many strong songs on it. I can't believe how overlooked JM and this album are. London Conversation includes a cover of Bob Dylan's 'Don't Think Twice, Its Alright' which John does brilliantly. What i think makes him special are his unique guitar tuning / pickings and his stunning voice. Unbeatable."

Martyn's altered, mainly acoustic, tunings give a different feel to the album than to some other Folk albums of the time and he even plays the sitar on Rolling Home.
London Conversation is the first album by John Martyn released on Island Records in 1967. Largely self-penned, the album is much more folk oriented than the Blues/Jazz tinged later releases. The album reputedly cost £158 to record.[1] --wiki

London Conversation is definitely a good album, worth checking out for the song about Nick Drake (Sandy Grey)
