I'd like to know what everyone's opinion is on the following titles:

1)"Santana" with "Evil Ways"
2"Blood Sweat and Tears" with "Spinning Wheel"
3)"Sunshine Superman"-Donovan
4)"The Pretenders"
5)"Boy" by U2

All brilliant classics of their genre.

I saw David Clayton Thomas a few years ago with the New BS&T. They played Spinning Wheel...a minor masterpiece. Well the whole album is.

Have you tried the BS&T's first album with Al Kooper & Mike Bloomfield?..."Child Is Father To The Man". That is THE masterpiece!!

Santana, so smooth and professional.
Donovan, for those melo (not CARMELO) moments.

Yes they started with the Highway 61 sessions. Kooper basically BS-ed his way onto playing organ for the album. He showed up early and uninvited for a session in June '65 in NYC with the intent of playing guitar. Bloomfield later showed up with Dylan and just warming up shamed Al into quietly putting his guitar away and going back to the sound booth. Later in the session when an organist was needed Al volunteered his services even though he was a novice on the instrument. He sort of played his parts in reaction to what the other musicians were playing (he was 1/8 of a note behind everyone else). Dylan liked what he heard. Listen to "Like A Rolling Stone" and you will always hear the organ come in slightly after everyone else. This was totally unintended but by doing this he helped create the "Dylan sound" that everyone was soon trying to copy. Al is and always will be Da Man!
