These are really funny and touching to see them now....the early frames have no sound as they are for facial expressions....Davy is around six mintes in...

Nez's was hysterical; already you can see his sense of fair play bubbling in his personality. Funny how they filmed that on The Farmer's Daughter set (which if you ever happened to see, Davy played a rocker in a 65-66 episode playing of all things a serious version of Gonna Buy Me A Dog).

Papa Nez was hilarious off the cuff...already you can see that trademark Nez wit & humor that translated so well into his lyrics & music.

Papa Nez grabbed me from their first LP....still have it!

Some of the songs that Nez wrote or sang lead....classic greats...most were rerecorded by Nez solo.

heres an acoustic cover I did of Early Morning Blues and Greens, probably the best singing Davy ever did on record (Headquarters, natch!):

And of Love to Love, an unreleased track from the original tv show I believe (like Nesmith's All the Kings Horses)
though it didn't surface until Monkees Flips (Rhino) and Missing Links (volume 3) (Rhino)

I always enjoyed "Love is Only Sleeping" from "Capricorn and JOnes,LTD".Also "You Told me" from "Headquarters".An often overlooked single was "Valleri' from "Birds,Bees and Monkees",their last top ten l.p,.

lot of different mixes of those Monkees tracks (thank you Rhino for your wonderful Monkees reissues!)

the original Valleri is on the 1st Monkee Links volume, with the original version of that track from the show

The Birds the Bees version is a rerecording of the original tv track that djs were playing on their show after recording from the show (!)

their last hit single - after that it was the likes of singles like DW Washburn!

Didn't even make top 20!

Is "As we go along" in mono I wonder - I think the recent Head 3CD by Rhino Handmade had the mix of that Carole King song in mono

any one got the 3CD for the Head soundtrack - I only have the 3CD for Headquarters (Headquarters Sessions) which is totally mad - theres like 5-6 backing tracks of "Forget that girl"!!
