Hm

Amazon is now saying that Einerson is doing 16 pages of liner notes for Black Beauty

I doubt it'll see release this year, personally, or Michaels book published by Helter Skelter

Some of you with long-term memories might recall our happily breaking the news about High Moon Records back in May 2011. The New York-based independent label had recently held a release party to announce reissues of Lovefs 1973 unreleased album Black Beauty and Gene Clarkfs 1977 Two Sides to Every Story. Both inaugural titles were slated to arrive on June 7. Well, June came and went, as did 2011, with no sign of either of these much-anticipated releases.

So wefre happy to relate the news shared last month by High Moonfs owners George Wallace and J.D. Martignon. As of December 9, High Moon was gfinalizing the artwork for both releases on LP and CDh and offered new hints as to the talented names working on the albums. Both albums were remastered by multi-Grammy Award nominee Dan Hersch; the lacquers were mastered and cut by Doug Sax, a name likely familiar to all collectors of audiophile vinyl. The same care is being put into the albumsf booklets. The essay for Black Beauty was written by Ben Edmonds (Rolling Stone, Mojo), and Edmondsf notes will be joined by over fifty never-before-seen pictures of Arthur Lee and the band during the sessions, taken by Herbert Worthington (Fleetwood Macfs Rumours). As for Clarkfs Two Sides, his biographer John Einarson has provided the new essay. High Moon will include more never-seen photography, this time by Ed Caraeef from the original album photo session.

Both discs will be packaged in hardbound eco-books for the CDs, while the 180-gram LPs will be housed in tip-on jackets with full-color, 11x 11 magazine-style inserts. For much more on High Moon Records, including track listings and discographical info for these two albums, hit the jump for the salient details!

A taste of Gene for those not lucky enough to have his wonderful Two Sides to Every Story...YET!!

Give My Love To Marie...one of his most beautiful covers.

A real tear jerker. God, what voice. Did the Byrds miss Gene after he left? Rhetorical...

One more from Two Sides...Arthur & Gene had two of the most beautiful voices of all time...I hear echos of Gene in Arthur and vise versa.

Considering that Black Beauty was due out last June, it is "interesting" that "as of December 9, High Moon was finalizing the artwork for both releases on LP and CD".

Liner notes to Black Beauty are by Ben Edmonds, and the notes for Two Sides are by John Einarson. No details are available concerning pre-orders or bonus tracks.....

Don't be in any hurry yet to pick up a copy of this CD (or the Gene Clark CD either). A serious inability to get things done continues to plague High Moon. I wouldn't bet on a release anytime soon. As for reviews, those were based on a dub from an acetate, not the remastered tracks.

I did the liner notes for the Gene Clark booklet to accompany the CD 18 months ago and back then they claimed to be in a rush to get the CD out. Yawn. At least I got paid.

So good to hear from you, John. What is new on your slate?
I am re-reading your fine bio, Gene Clark/Mr. Tambourine Man....

I'll always have my "Two Sides To Every Story" vinyl in the meantime.
