While she has a beautiful voice, everything she does sounds melancholy, so I really don't listen to her.
I can see your point, but for me, she is more....wistful: desire filled with melancholy, but hopeful.....with beauty. But she is much more eclectic-with influences of folk rock show-tunes & protest themes. An art-song, folk artist I guess best describes her.

Evertime I have the grace of listening to that awe inspiring folk tone,I am overcome with some eerie sense that Judy was put here for the very purpose of delighting us with her special gift. The same feeling I get listening to Clapton or Hendrix wailing on guitar or the many genius leodies of Paul McCartney.Their all God brother.Simply God.Or at least fairly reasonable facsimiles with good agents!
