I must say that I really enjoyed tonights edition of Later With Jools Holland.....it is such an excellent way of sampling different genres of popular music. The climax of this evening's show was PJ Harvey's TheWords That Maketh Murder. It struck a particular chord with me - and she's one of Dorset's finest!
my favorite is the 'stories' album - she says in interview that it's not one of her better records, but c'mon! she opened for U2 at the verizon center in dc when that came out and totally slayed! i left after about 6 U2unes.
I first posted this thread back in April - unfortunately the Youtube video has since been disabled. But last night, PJ Harvey won the much coveted Mercury Prize (now for the second time)....and her 'acceptance performance' was of the same song..The Words That Maketh Murder. The title of her album is uncomfortably ironic given events in some of our cities a few weeks back...Let England Shake.
