I bought the Keef book for my wife, and she was kind enough to buy me the Bruce box set.

Canyon of Dreams, the Magic and Music of Laurel Canyon, by Harvey Kubernik.

Doesn't seem to have been mentioned on the forum, published in 2009. This is a beautifully produced book, coffee table size, very thick cover, 300 photographs as well as lots of images of ephemera. I'll have to start reading it and not just spending time looking at all this stuff! Reviews are generally very positive, was put onto it by Mike Grant, will be known to some on the list as a long time UK California music fan and editor of Beach Boys Stomp, who had a 4 week series of shows called Canyon of Dreams on one of my local radio stations.

Checking the Arthur Lee references Paul Body says Love were the best band L.A. ever had, Pamela Des Barres has a piece on the band, talked about Love with Robert Plant, feel in love with Bryan when she was 17, "one of the cutest boys ever".

The CD I got was a compilation, How Many Roads- Black America sings Bob Dylan.

Standout track for me is Masters of War by the Staple Singers which is on YouTube, very intense version:

Blowin in the Wind was the first song that was widely covered by black artists and Pops Staples quickly introduced it, and several other early Dylan compositions, into his groups repetoire.

Not that I know of LK. My daughter bought it for me from Pablo himself at the Carlisle Blues Festival in November.

Most of the artists are danish, but there's many foreign too, such as Tom Paxton, Fairport Convention, John McLaughlin, Waether Report, Joan Armatrading, Suzi Quatro, Rainbow, Thin Lizzy BB King, Adan and the Ants, Kraftwerk, Gillan, Queen, Zappa, Nico, Phil Lynott, Neil Young and a lot of not so well know.
All from 1974 to 1983.
Mostly unpublished.
