Intriguing release and I know there are some fellow Nesmith fans here.
http://www.rgfrecords.demon.co.uk/releases/zigzag.htm

I can remember Zigzag featuring him a lot, as of course they did Love.

Wish they'd release the Nesmith set as a single CD! I like John Stewart but have a live album from around that same time with much of his set.

I'd forgotten about Starry Eyed and Laughing so found some YouTube footage of them and dug around further, UK band with lots of influences from the Byrds and US country rock but pretty good, the whole music and look of them takes me back

Are you talking about the Phoenix Concerts by John Stewart...BRILLIANT live material from the 70's.

Starry Eyed is a brilliant band from the 70's...did you ever see them live? I hear they were THE premier live act, but couldn't sell a record...to bad as punk was just coming round then. There are a couple fans here (RW!)
CHECK THEM OUT EVERYONE! The "Chimes of Freedom cover is as good as the Byrds, and Tony Poole is considered the Rickenmaster on THE Rickenbacker site, over Roger. And Roger still fully endorses them...new music still coming I hear.

Thanks for that clip, Mike. Here is their site.....

Starry Eyed of course coming from Bells of Rhymney

wasn't Bryan inspired by the McGuinn guitar break on that also?

"Starry eyed and Laughing, as I recall when we were caught...."
"And we gazed upon the CHIMES OF FREEDOM flashin'...."

Chimes, bells, whatever....and from what Roger McGuinn once
told me, that would be Beatle George inspired by the guitar in
"Bells;" he sent Derek Taylor back to McGuinn with an acetate
of "If I Needed Someone," with the message, "McGuinn will get it."

I remember reading about them in Zigzag and hearing them on John Peel but never saw them live.

I queried whether the price on the website now includes the five pounds increase on pre-order prices, as it seemed ambiguously worded, and it does.

Quick reply to my email from John Tobler, hadn't realised that the label is run by him and his wife. As many will know he did all the Arthur Lee interviews in Zigzag as well as the Snoopy one with Pete Frame.
