After discussing the amazing Love Lost with a dear friend, and re-reading the liner notes to this very nice record, I began to wonder what the origins of it all may be?
I once recall reading a quote from Arthur stating something along the lines of Vindicator being a tribute to Jimi Hendrix. Keeping in mind that many of the songs from Vindicator and Black Beauty are featured on Love Lost maybe this explains the rumored title of Dear You?
The song "Find Somebody" was never a favorite of mine, but hearing it on Love Lost I am all of a sudden in love with it. Then I began to wonder just who or what is Arthur talking about? Could it be his cosmic brother Jimi Hendrix? Keeping in mind that Jimi just passed away and these two giants did those sessions for Blue Thumb maybe, just maybe.
I feel the vibe of Love Lost is very Hendrix inspired, but with enough of our psychedelic hero's own energy to make it very authentic in my mind. Vindicator felt like it may have suffered from the confines of the studio and some stiff rules of the label itself. Love Lost seems really loose and free to me, maybe more honest than Vindicator and Black Beauty.
All of a sudden Dear You, seems like the perfect title had the album been released by CBS circa 1971 and accompanied by a massive tour.
Just speculation. Your thoughts?
PS cheers to Diane Lee, Mark Linn, and Don Poncher for this whole deal! |

KD: I agree, this was one of the tracks that I used to skip on Vindicator. Maybe it's the mix, but now it's a stand out track.

Tell me about it.
The mix of Love Lost in my mind adds some spirit and honesty that maybe Vindicator lacks. The vocals of Love Lost are truly brilliant. |

KD: But, on the other hand, the new version of Everybody's Gotta Live is truly inferior.
