he played the pedal steel guitar for Buck Owens. he influenced the Flying Burrito Brothers, Byrds, and many artists playing roots/country/western using pedal steel guitar!
just last year we lost the Great Sneeky Pete Kleinow.
now , another master of the amazing pedal steel guitar has passed.

We were talking a while back about the relative lack of the steel guitar in early rock. An interesting note....the lead guitarist for the groundbreaking & influential psych band (they were doing it in something like 1965) The Misunderstood, Glenn Ross Campbell, played the steel. British DJ John Peel championed The Misunderstood right up until his death and had said that if he had to list the top ten performances he had ever seen, it would have to include The Misunderstood at Pandora's Box, Hollywood, 1966. Check these guys out if you can find them on CD. And read about them at Wikipedia.......they will impress.
