I picked up this title from the 33 1/3 series that focuses on the great records. ("Forever Changes" as you all know was one title). The writer focuses a bit on the early Byrds, the personnel problems, and Gram Parsons coming on to help develop the Burritos and his idea of "Cosmic American Music". Good book on music that needs to be in everybody's collection. Unique and creative....

lk..I know you like Clark's work but in the book it was noted that Crosby supposedly "bullied" him when he was in the group. For some reason, they didn't get along. Note the writer described Crosby as a "petty criminal" before he joined the Byrds. Not sure where that came from.

Ya, I guess Crosby's ego was a bit overwhelming and Clark was just a regular country boy from Missouri. He never did quite get with the LA kind of life. I think it kind of .... did him in, eventually. I think I read somewhere that McGuinn once said of Crosby when he first heard him sing (paraphrasing....), Crosby was the devil with the voice of an angel.
I think Crosby has mellowed finally..... like wine I guess.
