The perfect combo of country, rock, rockabilly and sweet harmony.
The first duo to be elected into the Hall of Fame.
I still don't know who's Don or Phil.

She's A Woman was so different when it first came out..it was a revelation. But then, no one had done what the Beatles were doing in that magical time. The Beatles were even a Dylan favorite and helped to open his folk world to his new horizons.

But those were the times....Beatles rubbing off on Dylan, Byrds, Springfield, Love...Dylan, Birds, Little Richard rubbing off on the Beatles.
The cross pollination was rampant and just wonderful!

All this "cross pollination" goin on. Who knew?, I was a young teen
drooling about Ann Margaret and who cared. But I liked them all.
Only in retrospect do I grasp what was movin, shakin and evolving.
And i do think Buddy Holly was in the middle of it too.

And the Beatles and Hollies knew it too. Everybody builds on what went before. Today's rap believe it or not has its roots in "be bop a lua baby" and "who put the bomp" and "ramalama ding dong"(and i guess it goes back even farther than that!) The Beatles stepped up with Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! I love the old stuff and always pay it homage.

Rap/hip hop is totally indebted to Gil Scott-Heron (who hated being called the father of rap)....he was a (beat) poet and R&B guy.

This song is in Good Morning Vietnam, but it was only playing in the background. It took me awhile to identify it.
But if you ever have a party and no one is dancing, I think this will still get them up.

hmm....Freddie and the boys must owe all that to somewhere in earlier Brit dance hall music eh???......

And this one..I thought it was from England when i first the group and dance but really it was our backyard..in Philly..what did I know???
Anyway I'm not even sure about the steps!

lk..yes on Scott-Heron, and I see his great musical backgroud, "the black Dylan". From what I read, it's like he's ambivalent on that rap moniker. He'd rather be known as a "bluesologist!"
