Following on from Old Man's news about the Liquid Rooms gig I've just received an email, as I'm sure many others have, to say that the tour has been cancelled can't believe it. To say I'm gutted is an understatement. But I guess with everything going on it's not a massive shock. I imagine the guys and everyone involved with organising the tour are devastated.

This is the time and this is the time and it is time, time, time, time, time, time, time.....

It's actually been 'postponed indefinitely' rather than cancelled, so maybe there's still hope.

Have I missed something? What is 'everything going on'?

These are the exact details,

'It is with great regret that we have to inform our friends and fans that due to the present economic climate the forthcoming UK tour has been postponed indefinitely.

This decision has not been taken lightly as we know how disappointed you will all be and we very much appreciate your continued support. If you purchased a ticket already you can obtain a refund at the point of purchase.

Please note this does not affect our show at the Temple Bar in Santa Monica on 16 September and we look forward to seeing you there!

Please stand by for a very important announcement.'

Yes, I know all that John!! In your original post you remarked about 'everything going on'. All I was asking was what is the 'everything going on' , not why was the tour cancelled

Well you know Caryne.....Hurrican Ike and Gustav, Gordon Brown's leadership challenge, the collapse of XL, the Channel Tunnel fire, the US dispute with Bolivia, the black hole experiment that was going to kill us all.......hardly ideal conditions for a successful tour...

Ah, I thought you meant something specific to the band!!

It's really sad and I am really going to miss not seeing them but all the above things don't seem to have stopped the dozens of other bands I am seeing over the next few months who are touring so I'm guessing it's, sadly, more simple reasons

Yeh, I guess it comes down to interest and with a limited budget it must be really hard to publicise the tour. There must be enough Love fans in the UK to sell out most of these gigs but unfortunately if people don't know about it there's not much the guys can do. I wonder how much it costs to get a tour advert in the major music mags?

Sadly, I'm not sure that all Love fans would go to the gigs, even if they knew. I remember when they did the tour without Arthur but with Johnny, I was one of the people who stood outside venues to explain to people what was going on (and try to get them to still attend the gigs). Whilst some did come in, and enjoy it, there were a fare few who walked away not wanting to see a band without Arthur, even though Johnny was there. Without Johnny, sadly, I'm guessing the numbers who would attend would be even lower.

Believe me, this saddens me as I know it would have been a great show but some people just cannot see beyond Arthur with all this

I must admit that, although Baby Lemonade are a highly accomplished and professional band, without the charismatic stage presence of Arthur Lee, these concerts would not have been for me. Manchester 2002 was the best concert I ever saw - by anyone at all - and that's what I would want to keep in my memory. This said, I do applaud the enthusiasm of those who have worked so hard to promote the recently aborted BL tour - and I am saddened to hear that it has been put on hold.

Hello! I'm a bit wary of posting on message boards and the like, but here goes...

I was really sorry to hear that the Baby Lemonade tour had been cancelled, and I wondered if anyone going to the Temple Bar gig would be kind enough to film some clips for YouTube. I know it's not the same as being there, but it's better than nowt.

Many thanks.

Like I said, it is a question of looking beyond Arthur. I go to dozens of concerts every year and, for me, Baby Lemonade's concerts would be another in a long line of great gigs. I wasn't going for a 'Arthur gig' I was just going to see a good band.
If the only concerts a person ever attends are those with Arthur Lee appearing (obviously not now!) then I can understand this position of not attending the BL gigs but if you attend concerts for a good night out then I cannot.

Well put, caryne. Like you,I stood outside the Oxford and Frome gigs in 2005 trying to persuade people to come in and give the band a chance and I thoroughly enjoyed both shows. Indeed, both rank as two of my favourite Love related shows ever. (Nothing will ever eclipse the Fleece in 2002, though!)

In fact, I specifically went to the shows because I knew Arthur wasn't playing, as I had not enjoyed the last gig I saw with him anywhere near as much as previous shows and knew the boys would do a better than excellent job of the material without him.

Here's a pic is one of my favourite gig moments of 2005 - Revelation, live at last!

Has anyone been refunded their money for the Bristol Fleece gig yet? I sent my ticket back a couple of weeks ago to See Tickets and still had no refund!

I sent them an email saying how I wasn't happy about having to send the ticket back, especially as it seems that if the ticket was to get lost in the post you wouldn't get the refund! I haven't had a response. I may give them a ring this week.
