Brian's half sis is playin Hebden Bridge [Yorkshire UK}Arts Festival in 2008 - Hebden Bridge's population is only ~ 5000 so it's an amazing gig achievement for such a small place
I saw Maria McKee and her band at the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham, a pretty small venue, earlier this year. She was great - her style of performing nowadays suits more intimate gigs, her power ballad days are well and truly behind her.
Someone from the audience shouted for her to do "Orange Skies" but she said she hadn't sung it for ages and didn't oblige.
One of my favourite parts of the country - and one with a truly alternative/left field feel to it. If people make it as far as Hebden Bridge, it is well worth folowing the canal and then taking the short but steep climb to the village above - Heptonstall - where Sylvia Plath is buried.
