Some of you I've noticed note a great line from some songs....
For me, one of the best was in Dylan's "Chimes of Freedom"..I flipped when I heard it...never can get it out of my head...
"Starry eyed and laughing as I recall when were caught
Trapped by no track of hours for they hang suspended"....
That and the lyrics by Reed in the VU..Sweet Jane here...
"Standing on the corner
Suitcase in my hand
Jack's in his corset,Jane's in her vest
Me, honey, I'm in a rock'n'roll band
Riding in a Stutz bearcat,jim
Those were different times
They studied rules of verse
And those ladies they just rolled their eyes"
man I think this is just one of the best in all of rock when it's linked with his music......

Good Lyric selections but I'm afraid I have to go with the bard of Stretford for my lyrical inspiration. His words always resonate with me coming from Manchester

Courtesy of Doherty and Barat. My opinion of Pete Doherty has severely declined in recent years but I have to admit his lyrical talents are up there with the best.

great lyric Kula John, i think "What a waster" is the ilberteens best track, i have "up the bracket",and like "can,t stand me now" but i don,t rate Mr. Docherty, or what he stands for these days.
I have to have a think about my favourite lyric, although......
"hanging on in quiet desparation is the English way" from Floyd,s Dark side of the moon has allways struck a chord with mw

I think "Can't Stand me Know" is Pete's best lyric, I agree about the Floyd lyric but I think "Dogs" lyrically is the best thing Roger ever wrote |
