Today in derby I saw a train named Joe Strummer. Is this usual practice? who else has a train named for them? can Arthur have one?

| While I have a deep love of steam trains, but have limited knowledge of modern ones, I think I'm right in saying that naming locomotives after rock musicians is pretty rare. They don't have to be dead, but usually have to be associated with major towns or cities that the railways serve - Joe = Bristol, Beatles = Liverpool, etc. I don't think that any non-Brits have been so honoured, but hey, 'Arthur Lee' is a damn sight better name than some that I've seen on my travels.. |

Captain Sensible from The Damned is having a train named after him in February  on the day the train is running from Gloucester to Brighton,the Captain will be onboard during the journey and playing a gig in Brighton on arrival.. http://www.officialdamned.com I think John Peel also has a train named after him..

Hi,i work for a railway company in Banbury Oxfordshire,i will suggest to the powers that be about nameing one of our trains,from past experience i think there are politics involved however i will suggest it all the same.
