not sure if these have been mentioned before but if you've not heard these just enjoy these trax of Arthur with Bevis Frond on Greater London Radio. Arthur in good humour and good form.

When I lived in Seattle I ran into Nick Saloman (sp?) of the Bevis Frond at a guitar shop the day after they played a gig. I asked him about this radio show performance; he said that Arthur was very 'spaced out' (my term, not his...he might have said 'out of it') and several times re-introduced himself as if they'd never met.

Regardless, this is a very enjoyable 4-song set and Arthur sounds great!

On kind of a related note: I have to say I noticed a definite difference in the Arthur I met in 1996 vs the 2002 Arthur - he was a bit in a daze in 1996 (but very personable), whereas in 2002 he seemed *much* more lucid and aware. I assume that the forced sobriety of prison had this effect!

If you like it or not, he IS spaced out. He don't even know that he's releasing a single...! Great show though

It's a great little show as you say. Nick Saloman's guitar work also helped Bevis Frond to make a success of a live CD with Country Joe (sans Fish). I wonder if Bevis Frond ever got together with Arthur for a full band session? Sounds like it would be worth hearing.

I don't believe there ever was a full-band session with Arthur and Bevis Frond. Nick told me (I believe this was the year 2000) the radio show was the only time he played with Arthur. I have the Country Joe & the Frond :) CD too - very enjoyable!
