That tune could have really been something with Echols' sound, his style of attack, the way he slides up into the first note, and then slightly trills the next few by taking his finger off the higher chromatic blah blah.
Yes, it's Mae West from the album Wild Christmas from 1966. I don't know who the guitar player is. "Seven and seven is" was released in august 66, so he must have listened to the single.
you know I wouldn't mind getting that album by her....wonder if it's in print...she also supposedly did a rock album too that year doing a cover of Day Tripper by the Beatles.. Witty lady, eh?..lines from one of her films...
