Welcome To Denny's Gower ad Sunset
I was having a bite with Rodney a good friend of Arthur's all of a sudden Arthur came by and we started talking and he sat down for a good while
it was only recently after the Royce Hall UCLA Show in which a lot of people were disappointed with Arthur Including Arthur as he looked at me and Apologized to me for that show., I said Look man I've seen so many mind blowing shows in the last year and there are more coming tjem i name checked The Anmoreagains 1st show at Spaceland along with the First The Knit Factory LA show the Henry Fonda and the completely amazing Love Zombies double bill at the Wilshire Ebel He smiled when he realized id gone to so many shows
I wanted to tell him I had played Keys with Baby Lemonade at the Ash Groove in Santa Monica a benefit for his " Throw one of greatest artists of all time in Jail" show but i choose not to
I did get to tell him that it's been absolutely inspiring to hear these classic tunes with him singing his heart out and with the Great Baby Lemonade and Mr. Echols not to mention the Strings and Horns How unexpected and Mind-blowing is it for your audience to finally get to hear these tunes done properly?
He said "Its really inspiring to me too after a while he got up and Extended his hand to shake mine A Handshake I'll never Forget
I knew at the time this was a once in a lifetime hang and writing about it now makes me feel better during this time of Transition
"Like The Moon and The Stars and The Sun"

Merlyn Merlot,
I remember meeting you in line at the Whiskey. You are a true and loyal fan, which you don't need me to tell you. I hope you heal well.
Lee

Hey Merlyn- A brief "You I'll Be Following" lyric update from a bonafide source. 1972, I'm doing rock radio in San Luis Obispo, playing plenty of Love, as always. My girlfriend, whom I scheduled on the air to do some fill in shifts (also playing tons of Love; no surprise) gets fan mail on a regular basis from a gentleman residing just up the road, courtesy of the great state of California, who very sincerely thanks her for playing so much music by his old band. Don Conka went on to explain that he had been in the California Mens Colony, San Luis Obispo, for quite some time, and that he'd be happy to reveal the "true stories" behind many Love songs. For instance, he continued, in "YIBF," the "owe it Johnny, owe it to Conka" line was all about Arthur's tendency to freqently "borrow" a bit of herb. He also stated that "He had a shoebox behind the icebox" was another totally truthful line, regarding the location of a bandmember's (who shall remain un-named) stash. The letters were very cool and very honest. When I had a chance to speak with Don, after he sat in on the "Smokestack Lightning" encore at the House of Blues, he absolutely and without question recalled those "fan" letters he'd written and sent more than thirty years earlier. A cool guy, who I'm sure is out there laying down a soid beat right now. |

That would be, of course, a "solid" beat.... |

Hey Rick. Great post, so it looks like another piece of the LOVE puzzle comes out - looks like DC was also a guest of the great state of CA.
Free the states ! |
