Since 1980, I've owned and enjoyed the "Parable of Arable Land" by Red Crayola. It's a wonderful psychedelic album. I think it was recorded in Texas in 1968. To me the arrangements and vocals sound so similar to Love. For example compare "Pink Stainless Tail" to "She Comes in Colors".

I was wondering:
Were the two bands aware of each other at the time (66-68) ?
Did either band influence the other ?
Were personnel in either band ever known to meet or collaborate ?

That's interesting. Not meaning to be contrary but I never would have thought of relating the two, though I think maybe I see what you mean. "Parable" has always been kind of inscrutable to me, as opposed to their label-mates the Elevators, the Golden Dawn, Bubble Puppy, et al. But I really do like the album. It's WAY out there, especially for it's time. I think the main guy, Mayo, worked with Pere Ubu at one point.
Another interesting anecdote I've heard is that Red Crayola's "The Parable of Arable Land" was among the records found in Jimi Hendrix' record collection at the time of his passing.
