Even better...

Michael Nesmith, Monkees to reunite for U.S. tour

It came as a typically subtle comment in a lengthy post by Michael Nesmith on his Facebook page.

“And Micky and Peter and I are going to do twelve concerts in November here in the States,” he said.

And with that, Michael Nesmith announced the huge news he will tour with the Monkees for the first time since 1997.

Nesmith has shied away from Monkees reunions in the recent past. Notably, despite rumors and an invitation, he did not join the 45th anniversary tour in 2011 with Davy Jones, Peter Tork and Micky Dolenz. He did record a full reunion album, “Justus,” with the rest of the group in 1996. He last toured with the Monkees in 1997 in the UK. "This seems like a good time to do this – the right time," Nesmith said on Rolling Stone.com. "Who knows when we will get another chance?"

According to a tour poster, the group will be performing “classic hits, deep cuts and fan favorites.” Rolling Stone.com also indicated the shows will include a tribute to fellow Monkee Davy Jones.

Here are the tour dates:

Nov. 8: California Center for the Arts – Escondido, CA.
Nov. 9: Arlington Theatre – Santa Barbara, CA.
Nov. 10: Greek Theatre – Los Angeles, CA.
Nov. 11: Flint Center for the Performing Arts – Cupertino, CA.
Nov. 15: State Theatre – Minneapolis, Minn.
Nov. 16: The Chicago Theatre – Chicago, Ill.
Nov. 17: Lakewood Civic Auditorium – Cleveland, Ohio.
Nov. 18: The Center for the Arts – Buffalo, N.Y.
Nov. 29: Keswick Theatre – Philadelphia, Pa. (on sale Friday at noon)
Nov. 30: State Theatre Regional Arts Center – New Brunswick, N.J.
Dec. 1: The Paramount – Huntington, N.Y.
Dec. 2: The Beacon Theatre – New York, N.Y.

I guess they have to

Hope Tork doesn't end up singing "Daydream Believer" ! YIKES!!

On the bright side, perhaps the band will do its flip (Goin down) as it did on the UK Justus tour

the most recent Rhino Handmade release was Birds the Bees and the Monkees (a 3CD set) so maybe they'll be plugging that

Hopefully there will be a new volume (4) in the Missing Links series before too long!

That was specifically mentioned...yes...tribute will be paid to Davy!

Hope that they can keep it together and avoid the troubles of the Justus tour. They wisely kept it short. The decades may change but Nez is still the rebel.
