But with their 1970 Elektra release of the lp "On The Waters" I was lucky. I opened a bank account and they gave us a choice of "free gift albums" on a rack up front.
I chose Bread-On The Waters, because everything else was pretty bad. This album had some pop ((I Wanna) Make it With You---a great date song!), some pop psych and hard rockers also.
This is a pretty good song from the LP and an example of how they stretched they chops much further than their radio fare...some nice fuzz psych guitar too on "Call On Me"....
I actually saw BREAD, live, just after this album was released and was quite impressed with their musicianship, especially the drumming. It smoked. A very tight rock combo.
I never was inspired to actually buy a Bread lp, but was & still AM happy to have this nice piece of vinyl.
So if you spot it for a buck in a record bin, grab it. I think you'll enjoy it.
