Been discovering some different tunes by the marvelous vocal ensemble called teh Association on a greatest hits album I just bought at a thrift for a mere fifty cents.Wonderful lilting harmonies compliment the middle of the road sixties fare with mellifluous effectiveness.Where's anyone like THIS today?Alas, one could only find itif one has tickets to an oldies station sponsored package tour. You know, one's like the Monkees still embark upon with people like Peter Noone and Gary Puckett.I've been paying particular attention to "Everything That Touches You".Just takes me away.

I think it was the flute that captivated me. I hade never seen this instrument played in a rock song.

And as those who were there, know....you would never guess by their well produced album tracks and singles...The Association were one of the loudest bands in LA. They blew the crowds away with their wall of amps like no one else had at the time!

And like so many bands, their label did not trust them in the studio so they were not allowed to play on the first album...I believe it is the Wrecking Crew, as usual.

I have their brilliant first album in MONO which has such fantastic sound....the meaning of WALL OF SOUND is displayed there to perfection.

And every time they tried to break the mold and pop sound that the record dudes wanted (and why not/ They were a hit machine)...they flopped.

But in the end, they wound up with one of the finest catalogs of 60's music for us all to enjoy....music that lasts!

Here is their wall of amps...cool to see, though lip synced undoubtedly

We have talked about them before, so I'm not gonna repeat what was said. But there were 6 or 7 of them, all different looks ,shapes
and nationalities. But man they came together as one harmonious sound. And yes, mellifluous certainly fits their sound.
