Posted - 13/06/2011 : 08:56:43 My favourite album is his first - one of the truly great all time records. No bedsit forty years ago was complete without it! And my favourite track.....Stories of the Street. It still haunts me across that gulf of time. I especially love that wonderful organ type sound that underpins the vocal. You get the same thing on Pink Floyd's wonderful Cymberline (from More).

Posted - 09/06/2011 : 15:51:05 I caught a tribute to Cohen on PBS a few months ago featuring several artists inspired by him in their works.I think Elvis Costello might have bennone of them.I couldn't quite feel any specific emotional empathy with the tunes too much,but I did admire the freestyle elegance in his non-conformist musings. |
