Posted - 23/02/2011 : 14:07:07 The other day I was listening to radio and a Dead song came up. It was "Ripple". "If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine"...Now the song just hit me for alot of reasons. One that it brought up many things from that great creative time and era. For me it just seemed to typify everything about the time. I'm just wondering about others recollections. What's your song of song for the era? I'm intending to make sure I have some/most of them!! |

I would have them framed nicely.....sadly I don't have mine.
I do have my 1959 Ritchie Valens vinyl in NM condition.....
That would contain a defining song....LA BAMBA!

Nice rocker.....
Here are two defining rock moments-- from Buddy Holly & Fats Domino.....my mother bought those 45's way back when--while I was still in me "knickers", 2nd grade I think...she was an early rock fan! If these two don't completely define and anchor the Era, what does?!! And then there was ROY....

Posted - 02/03/2011 : 14:28:31 Lets' see...we have Ohio, Ripple, Satisfaction, Something in the Air, ".. Stoned", World Without Love, Laugh, Laugh, Are You Experienced, For What Its Worth, Rock and Roll Woman, Pickin' Up the Pieces,The Loner as "definitive" songs of our lives during that past era..amazing, amazing that not one is a Beatles or even a Love record! hmmmm..what have we got to say about ourselves?????... |

Posted - 25/02/2011 : 17:41:25 ....and in the same vein, Ohio by CSNY. 1970 was like a coming of age...or loss of innocence for me. Music was no longer just what happened to be on Top of the Pops. |

The first US band after the British invasion to capture that wave for me. Though they had been around for a while doing that country rock thing even before Buffalo Springfield.
