Martin Mull's "talk show" Fernwood Tonight...Tom's van broke down on the way to Cleveland so he showed there....He sings "The Piano Has Been Drinking".
The audience doesn't have a clue..they think he is a comedy act. Tom sits down with a bottle of beer when offered a diet soda. It's all staged of course for the Mary Hartman sitcom, but it is a hoot! His dialog with Mull is classic!! When he sits by Martin, Mull says, "Talk a load off your act"....
Tom..."I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy".
This really funny...I recommend fooling the site and watching...quite a sense of humor.

Mike Douglas show....describes Tom as a performer, jazz singer and vagrant and calls him quite a talent...
