Posted - 16/02/2011 : 14:07:02 Anything to that bit I read of Jagger mentioning that Buzzy's record "*****cats Can Go Far" got more radio play at the time than the Stones' records and that there was some not so nice playing around with the availability of his PCGF record in stores???? Just rumor? |

As greatly loved by all as Freddie Neil was, he was probably not exactly the best of all possible role models, lifestyle-wise, which may have contributed to Buzzy's own difficulties and ultimate lack of success in the music biz. Bass player on the "Reputation" video is the late (and definitely great) Doug Rauch, who went on to play with Bunky and Jake and then Santana, before subcumbing to his own lifestyle problems.
Buzzy needed no help in that department, and his downward spiral postdated his association with Fred and Tim and that crowd. He was homeless for awhile, then his son helped him out, but hes almost blind and weighs about 350 lbs, and is/was confined to a wheel chair. He should be on the web somewhere, tho i hear he and his son parted ways. hes an advocate for legalization of Marijuana,in some capacity.

..."Buzzy's own difficulties and ultimate lack of success in the music biz"...
I did notice myself that apart from those very early days when I saw him doing gigs that he just didn't generate momentum in his what I thought at the time a good music career either as a solo artist or band member. |

Buzzy was quite the vibes player and backed a number of artists too. I am wondering how his health is....there was a benefit going on a few years ago...another fine artist without health insurance.
Here is a nice live solo number on electric guitar.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abVRq0vYEQ8&feature=list_related&playnext=1&list=MLGxdCwVVULXfJIvp6D59LWuLhnYwO_03S
