Just out of respect for Buddy, Richy and the Big Bopper too.
They were good.

I graduated from Pacoima Jr. High,(Valens' school),in 1966.
Such a tragedy. Three candles , snuffed out.

...what the world needs now...

you gotta love how the celeste on Heartbeat was added last minute

Can't even think of the song now without hearing that part (played by Petty's wife I MIGHT add!)

I think Buddy playing Peggy Sue is out of the rare films of Buddy playing. The Beatles didn't know for years how to play "That'll be the day" as they didn't have a capo nearby!

Check it out:

(off Dick Clark?)

heres my cover if you're needing the chords (there are FOUR!!!):

So I've been listening to my Buddy Holly Greatest hits CD all day.
When something is good it stays good no matter how long or old.
You are absolutely right LK, Richie Valens version of Come on Let's go is the tops. I didn't know he wrote it. I need to find my old cassette of Richie Valens.
The flip side to La Bamba was Donna.
The flip side to Peggy Sue was Everyday (I think)

Quite the combinations.

I'll bet he was a Maiar..

He was immortal till he died

Lotsa good stuff out there from the 50s. Personally I favor Elvis's "(Maries the name) His lamest flame" although I'm not sure that was cut at Sun. It was a single, I feel fairly sure!

But its all good - Bill Haley (Rock around the clock, Shake rattle and roll)
Chintilly lace of course by the Big Bopper (died aged 29. Christ)
Chuck Berry

And the great Richie Valens...his original version of Come On Let's Go is the definitive one.

These all written by Richie....
Come On, Let's Go
Donna
In a Turkish Town
Ooh My Head
and his definitive arrangement of LA BAMBA.....
all on his first, and last album.

The day the music died--they will be in the Iowa newspapers and
TV news about that tragic event that happened in Clear Lake, Iowa.

with Lyrics...The Day The Music Died....

the 6cd box set by Buddy (Not fade away) is not to be missed
Came out late last year

I'm sure you've heard all those
early recordings that Buddy made as part of a duo. Rockabilly!

Come on lets go lets go lets go everybody!

Thanks for remembering - gotta play "Gonna put my foot right down" now!
