Smart a** Joe. haha, There is a story out there that Dylan actually walked through the night with his guitar case in hand to be part of one of Phil's shows in NY; a great thing to do, but for some reason did not appear, and evidently did not let anyone know he was there. I love Dylan :)

It's all the same day.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Ochs

Wiki does a good job on Phil's bio and the tribute by Bella Abzug before Congress is very touching and heartfelt.....under "Decline and Death" section.

I love the "Tape From California" album....pulling out my vinyl.

RIP Phil

Man it is very nice to see Phil Ochs being recognized from you folks; you are a good group of music lovers. Phil supplied the soft-heart counterpoint to Dylan's in-yer-face-about-everything poetic-romantic-philosophic,musical dynasty. Ah Dylan what a fine wine he was. Phil could sing about Santo Domingo with an aire of sorrow and desperation, while spinning a melody perfect in keeping with his peaceful soul. I AIN'T A'MARCHING ANYMORE was like a conversation in the pub; he was earthy and strong of opinion. I remember when I read of his suicide, the thoughts of what Dylan had said about him being just a "journalist," and not a songwriter, and other put downs by th King of Folk. Phil Ochs was extremely popular and loved by many, many folks in the deep-folk tradition, he was called a "troubadour," one who travels the land and sings songs about the people of the land. He was.

It's all the same day.

I played the LP, " Pleasures Of The Harbor", over and over, upon release. What a special artist, activist, and tragic magic.
I'd never had the pleasure of his live concerts.
My parents did, however see his historic Troubador nightclub performance , where he wor the gold suite, as depicted on the cover of "Greatest Hits"! What a hoot!!!! the subtitle , a satiricle nod to Elvis, is, " 50 PHIL OCHS FANS CAN'T BE WRONG", a reference to his poor record sales. DAMN, We can sure use him now, singing his big heart out against war and hypocracy !

...what the world needs now...
