The great composer/arranger, vocalist, trumpet player and leader of the 60s band The Free Design just passed away at the age of 63 from cancer.
Sure, they weren't exactly counterculture icons, but their music has survived and gone on to influence a wide range of bands today such as Stereolab, the Llamas and others.
The band was composed of his two sisters and one brother, and their vocal harmonies were beautiful and perfectly in tune.
He was writing film music in Canada at the time of his death.
