Posted - 06/06/2010 : 22:47:29 Anyone know this Celtic psychedelic folk rock band...compared to Fairport Convention, at least with it's female/male harmonies?
I have one coming to me soon, but it is supposed to be amazing stuff!
any other great British bands in this vein? How "BOUT: The Trees, or Mellow Candle... I've heard of them, haven't HEARD them.

Kind of riffing on the Freak Brothers' "Dope will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no dope," the song manages to pretty much reaffirm what really matters; "Love will get you times of no sex better than sex will get you through times of no love." "Bodies on bodies like sacks upon shelves, people are using each other to make love to themselves." Haven't heard the song in decades, but can you tell that it resonated? |

I discovered that album on a blog - very nice, indeed.
btw lk, love the Tom Rapp signature - he's a very underrated musician.
Children of Lir is great, boomer & rocker. I agree.
Yes. Tom Rapp. Balaklava is one hell of an album. SO is One Nation Underground. Well....all his works are brilliant. He became a successful civil rights lawyer after "retiring" from music...until his return in 1999 with "A Journal Of The Plague Years".
How about some Tom Rapp....lets get him out here, boomer!! From "One Nation Underground". How can anyone so talented be so obscure? Nick Drake is catching on finally...how about Mr RAPP people?!!! Maybe we are happy with our treasure that only a small select few enjoy...we don't need no stinking Rock stars!

Posted - 11/06/2010 : 00:05:33 Loudest Whisper boasts female vocalist Geraldine Dorgan who leads a great Irish folk psych band that is one of the rarest records issued in Ireland. Quite good! Searing fuzz & whah whah lead accompanying a nice mix of folk-psych traditional but trippy songs.
"Children of Lir" is an Irish legend....put to music here.
Here is the Amazon site... reviews & bio... http://www.amazon.com/Children-Lir-Loudest-Whisper/dp/B000JJ3RC0 http://femalevocals.blogspot.com/2007/12/loudest-whisper-children-of-lir-1975.html
