Doesn't seem like we mention CCR much here, but they (John F. especifically) were fantastic!

I remember first hearing "Suzi Q" on the radio driving at night and it totally blew me away! The FULL version, of course! Never had we heard anything like John's voice OR guitar. He got sounds out of his guitar like no one else. He wasn't too bad on the harp either!

I'm listening to my Woodstock"Untold Stories" DVD that has never been seen before the 40th anniversary DVD. It includes Born On The Bayou, I put A SPell On You, and the fantastic, KEEP ON CHOOGLIN'.
Too bad most don't get to see this performance, if you don't have this new special DVD set. CCR's set is one of the best of the whole Woodstock experience!

Like LoVE, CCR was really John (as Arthur was) and his band ..albiet with fantastic bands. (Though Love had Bryan!).

Like Arthur, Fogerty was able to continue on with some great albums even without his original band.

Still one of MY all-time favorite music makers! CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL Anyone else?!

A California City boy (born and raised in Berkeley!! HA!) with swamp music in his blood (somehow!!)...No SF psychedelia, a la the Dead or Airplane there!!
What a voice.

Hi to Ed the Bear!

"Who'll Stop the Rain" still gives me chills. That and "Green River."

"Come on people now...smile on your brother, everybody get together, try to love one another right now...." From their first LP

Elephant Mountain was an album I was turned on to while visiting SF...crashed at a Berkeley college kid's pad and it was playing all night. Then went down the coast to camp in the redwoods. I fortunately split before the Berkeley student riots hit.

It is one of my favorite albums ever!

Peace and love, brother!

Very good background lk.....just thinking of a particular Youngbloods' song all of a sudden... something about those "peace and love" years!..

Screwed by management, millions "stolen" from the band, label screwing the band....all to common in those days...lawsuits. I don't know if the brothers are talking....didn't sit together at the Hall induction.

Believe it or not, the Byrds were one of the only group inductees to all sit together when inducted. Crosby invited Gene to sit with them all. It was one of the only unified efforts, unfortunately, in most of their years together or apart. Gene was always the gentleman and didn't discuss the way he seemed to always get screwed over by one Byrd or another. Michael Clarke was his only really true Byrd friend over the years...if any were. The others just had to much ego or too many self-centered gripes or agendas. Oddly, Hillman and McGuinn had the most anger and aversion to any Byrds reunion.
Crosby just had too many comitments with CSN. Hillman was the main impediment to a million dollar deal for a last reunion, Gene jsut about begged Chris, as Gene was desperate for money, but Chris was immovable.

Anyway, this is about CCR....another great band...that somehow created masterpieces amidst a storm.
