Posted - 22/09/2009 : 17:05:00 "Struck like Silver" sounded good one first listen!!! Instant LOVE!
Maybe Arthur didn't want another song-writing partner with such melodic skills as Jay.....not another Bryan to overshadow, or at least challenge, the leader?!

Posted - 22/09/2009 : 11:49:26 Thanks for all this, Torben....you have quite made my day! I've not seen the covers of those two albums for well over 30 years - I remember thinking at the time just what a pretty design Struck Like Silver was.......with those bars of silver bullion. I have just listened to For Free on this site:
http://www.myspace.com/morningfromthe70s
Morning's music lies somewhere between classic Love and the jazzy swirl of The Association....surely it must be in someones interest to give these albums CD releases.....how about it Sundazed? |

Posted - 21/09/2009 : 22:29:53 I remember an old issue of the Castle covering Morning
Are they good albums? also, didn't Jay Donnellon (nee Lewis) cut a solo album a few years back until his boat stranded him in Greece?
Can anyone enlighten about the band?

Posted - 21/09/2009 : 10:34:34 Yes I had both Morning's albums back in the early to mid 70s....and I too especially liked the second one....I seem to recall that it had a great cover of a Joni Mitchell song......For Free? I think that it was a great pity that Arthur found it necessary to axe Jay from the band. Not only was he a great guitarist, he also had a strong aptitude for melody and soft rock. But then of course, Arthur was Arthur....and we can only reflect on what might have been. As things stand, I think we struggle to think of a truly great Love song after Out Here. |
