I've always loved her passion and spirit. She was the first beat-folk-hippie long haired with bangs singer. When she did that quick head-nod
with hair flying, the passion was beautiful!

...what the world needs now...

One of the first with a sweet beautiful voice. I think you're right John9, she lead the way.

And I like this..."I was raised to believe that everybody has a responsibility to their community and I use the word very loosely.
It's a big community. If I get recognized in the Sinai Desert I have a big community". And she entertained us for a long while.

Still have their beautiful debut LP that I bought when it came out in the early sixties.

A sad loss at a relatively young age....72. Cancer sucks.

Rest in peace, Mary.

So sad, she had a beautiful voice.

Yes, indeed. That beautiful soaring voice of hers figured prominently in my childhood listening. On BBC Radio 4 news this morning, they played an excerpt from If I Had A Hammer......the message of peace and harmony that the song delivers in that inimitable early 60s folk style seemed almost heartbreakinkly poignant. I wonder whether without Pete Paul and Mary we would ever have had The Byrds or The Airplane....or The Mamas and The Papas. Mary - you blazed quite a trail there......and so thank you and sleep well.
