Posted - 02/06/2009 : 00:23:45 We all know the blank stares and "Arthue who" question. Love just never got any playing time. After Arthur passed, they played some of his music, and some of my buddies commented, hey I finally heard that guy you like, something about Bunmmer in the Summer.

Posted - 01/06/2009 : 22:30:40 Right all...first an foremost, LoVE is so underrrated and UNKNOWN by TOO TOO TOO MANY!!
Byrds too, Rocker. Buffalo Springfield for SURE. Todd Rundgren! We could add "unknown" to "underrated" (by the ignorant masses), such as Quicksilver Messenger Service, Blues McGoos, Blue Cheer.....
...... and a really big UNDERRATED & UNKNOWN has to be given to one of our faves here: The Pretty Things
The "Overrated" are not worth mentioning, as Bob said. But let's just say ALL "Idol" winners (with an exception or two, giving no credit to the hosts!).

Posted - 01/06/2009 : 15:18:11 hmmm..maybe we'll be starting to have everyone out there revaluate those big bands out there. As for the Stones, maybe they should be getting a critical look as to their work post-Brian. Maybe too formulaic and not exactly really creative?? And frankly I think the Byrds are even under-rated on their effect on things "Americana". I'd think they measure up to at least having a good definitive documentary dvd that explores their history and work. They don't even have it. Just strange. And for "Love" well I'd think those who want to know about them will just have to hunt them down on their own for the time being. Some things are for explorers only, eh? |

Posted - 01/06/2009 : 00:29:23 I have a real problem with Radiohead. I quite often hear songs I really like but can't recall floating from the car ipod and feel compelled to risk life and limb looking at the wee screen as I hurtle along the M1. Thing is, they're often Radiohead songs...

Posted - 31/05/2009 : 21:03:12 whenever I mention LOVE, I get blank stares. "what was their hit?" "Arthur WHO?" Although much apreciated and well-rated and loved by music fans and historians and even critics, LOVE is mostly unknown to mainstream rock squares. i guess "underrated" can apply here in one aspect. many atists from the 60s-70s are ignored by shallow and ignorant music product consumers raised in the M-TV, and "indie/alternative" generations, spewing out just horrible un-creative formula trash, yet very overrated by many critics. there are too many to mention, and just to type their names sickens me, and they don't deserve any publicity...even bad publicity. just turn on any mainstream top-40 teen hit radio. "alternative" and "indy" cookie- cutter product, too. their "country", "punk", "alternative", "hip-hop", "r&b", "urban", "rock", "dance" business product all sound the same! there's no imagination or creativity! only some flash and clever snarky lyrics. yuk!
