Do you prefer Mr. Richards or Mr. Harrison? I'm talking about as a lead guitarist in a band, not singing ability or solo work.
For me it is Keith. While George is tops hands down for creativity,
I can't get over all those amazing guitar riffs from Keith.

George was influenced early on by Carl Perkins and Chet Atkins....same guitar as Chet. But not much is known about early George......there a lot of great early rock guitarists to draw from and all the Bealtes were influenced by American rock and roll, & R & B.

First and foremost, Keith has been inspired by Chuck Berry throughout his career. Muddy Waters and Jimmy Reed also were early influences. Keith was also a fan of Chet Atkins and was heavily influenced by Ry Cooder's slide work. If you measure Keith from his rockin' blues licks and creative force, Keith would likely be measured above Harrison. I just happen to love George's work too.

.. do you guys know who influenced George and Keef when it came to the guitar?

Keef is great, and as for George, i think there are 2 George's.
there's the pre -70s style with the Beatles. that is my choice!
then it's the single string slide style. oh oh...here comes Clapton, and someone who looks like Jimmy!

...what the world needs now...

markk...keith's riffs..gotta be the signature for the Stones', no?....outstanding notes and style....I think he's been playing with Charley so long that everything just becomes intuitive when they play..they just know where everything goes and will go...I was listening to the riffs in "She's So Cold" and how they intertwine...what a tune!....

George. Yes, for creativity as a guitarist, & the way he colours his playing like no other. It's a very tough call. One could call up so many great examples from each. But yah, George. I don't "prefer" one over the other in a broader sense, because, in a way there is no comparison, & for me, and I couldn't do without either!!
