I was delighted to discover just before going on holiday to north Devon that Love were playing in Ilfracombe, so was able to see them at the Phoenix Club. Thanks for posting details Torben, i'd never have known otherwise.

They actually played as support(!) to Who's Next having been slotted in last minute as Portsmouth gig was cancelled and Rusty told me also their bus driver lives in Ilfracombe. Only a small crowd and i guess alot were there to see WN but very appreciative.

They did a great version of Revelation and the set really came alive after that. Having seen the band several times i'm glad they're now adding in some other songs (they did Can't Explain too). Should really have been the main act so we could have got longer than 1 hour set but great to catch them. As the lead singer of Who's Next said when it was their turn 'just how do we follow that!'

I used the Ilfracombe gig as an excuse to go on holiday!! As sheilab says, it was a very small gig and Love were the support for a Who tribute act. As usual the guys were spot on. Rusty nailed the singing and Revelation was even better, with a mid song reshuffle so Chapple could blow some wicked harp. It's great with Johnny Echolls there (putting my guitar geek head on). You end up with Randle playing down the dirty end and Rusty's rocksteady campfire chords and Guitar God Johnny Echolls playing something funky somewhere between the two of them. I think most of the small crowd were there to see Who's Next. Pity it was so last minute. The town was pretty busy, so it was a little disappointing to get such a small crowd.
