Posted - 21/08/2005 : 17:49:39 Pete Seeger based the song on a poem by Idris Evans, bought this song on an EP (perhaps already lost some younger messageboard members ) when I was 14 and just about wore out the vinyl playing the song, the ending is sublime.
Three years ago I went to see Roger McGuinn in concert for the first time, he said on stage that they has taken great care with the pronounciation of the Welsh place names but had learnt later that the town in the title is pronounced Rhumney. He then did a great version with the correct pronounciation though given my liking of the song I would have preferred that he had kept it to how it was originally pronounced when he recorded it. |

It was Orange Skies, here's the quote from Brians interview from Phil Nee of WRCO:
PN: One of the songs that stands out for me is "Orange Skies." Love did that song as well. Was that the first song you ever wrote?
BM: Seventeen years old. I was actually roadie for the Byrds at the time. I wrote that song from Roger McGuinn's (he was Jim McGuinn then) guitar break in "The Bells of Rhymney." If you listen to it closely, it's the same configuration.

Orange skies, and McGUINN took Bells of Rhymney, I think, from Pete Seeger, who took from somewhere else. |

heh, no, that would get too confusing. the original would then become "the artist formerly known as ?" which would likely trigger some kind of identity vortex, ultimately causing the earth to swallow itself or something. how about if he became "!"...
Nobody has yet inquired as to who "wrote" the "tamborine parts" Arthur played onstage.
Didn't I read somewhere that Bryan took the riff from the Byrds "Bells of Rhymmney" and made into a song, was it Alone Again Or?

Posted - 19/08/2005 : 23:45:00 they absolutly will not be able to legally use the original; logo as AL has been using it for 40 years as a work trademark. Since he and no one else has been trading under that nameand with that logo the band would be letting themselves in for a lawsuit if they attempted to use that logo. especially in the US where everyone is lawsuit crazy. I'm sure they could come up with something close enough to differintiat between LOVE and the LOVE BAND. |

Cary , don't see why not, as probably everyone in the world was/is LOVE except Arthur Lee, who somehow hypnotized everyone into doing his will. I wouldn't be surprised if the judge slapped an injunction on Arthur prohibiting him from calling himself Arthur Lee.
THAT was funny!
Astrolobe, maybe Arthur can start calling himself "?", if "?" doesn't mind, of course.
