Thomas.."along the lines of Bitches Brew"..

Yes, now that would have been something. I don't know if I would've followed Arthur down that road but I'd sure as heck try, give it due due and see where it led. As I've gotten older I realized that I can get into different styles of music. Of course,I love rock but I've surprised myself in some of the music I can get into. It's tough that Arthur is gone and we've perhaps missed an opportunity.

I think I recall hearing that a snag that hit the Sly Stone/Miles collab was something like a $50,000.00 payment upfront to Miles.

KD: Hey Thomas. Right amount, wrong collaboration. This was
the Jimi Hendrix / Miles Davis / Tony Williams project that
got canned.

Free the checks !

I would imagine Arthur's working with Chico Hamilton would be evidence enough that he was into jazz, not to mention I recall a story from a friend who played with Arthur stating that Miles Davis once wanted to work with our psychedelic hero.

That would have been insane. Arthur Lee and Miles Davis collaborating?

Wasn't Arthur saying in one interview that he was influenced by Beethoven, Smokey, and all these disparate folk?

I feel sure that Arthur would've been into jazz. In the 60s the music on the hit parade was more varied (you've got Motown, girl groups, pure pop confectionary (Monkees, Nazz)
classical baroque (the Left Banke)

and of course Forever Changes was punk with strings! take THAT the Ramones!

Thanks for that. Maybe when the conversation turns to jazz I can pick up on that with John and get his take.

Johnny told me about it here

http://love.torbenskott.dk/tour2005/20050701_stourbridge_echols_interview.asp

It wasn't the occasion to quiz him about playing with Miles Davis. He posts on this board sometimes, you could always ask him.

good question

in interviews Echols not mentioned any Miles albums hes appeared on

hopefully the new book will talk about any work the man has done, post Love

everything by other members (Bryan, Tjay, Jay) seems to have surfaced
dyecraig Posted - 02/03/2010 : 22:49:26
Anyone know exactly what Johnny did w/Miles?
I've heard that also, but cannot find any recorded evidence.
Joe Morris Posted - 02/03/2010 : 21:26:28
I'm sure Arthur would've listened to everything
rocker Posted - 02/03/2010 : 21:08:43
Tina..yes, that's it. Really a different listening experience for me and if Arthur and John were into it I'd wonder how they related to that great music by Davis et al. I'd love to know what they thought of it.

If you're talking about Kind of Blue by Miles Davis - I understand from people who would know that Arthur was indeed a fan. And I know for sure that Jahnny Echols is, because he told me that he played with Miles in the past.
