First off

I want to apologize to Baby Lemonade and the Love family for posting a pre mature Date for the Malibu Arthur Love show
The info was attached to the Forever Changes 2 disc set
and I ASSumed it was good verified info
i will be Much more careful in the future

2nd of all

I've just been told from people at the label
that the Love Box Set that Rhino was planning on
is on indefinite hold
Due to the rapidly changing music business relationship to manufacturing CD's of all shapes and sizes

I've re posted the Forever Chages Track list because a week form Tuesday we can all enjoy that
let alone the much talked about Love Cover of "Whoolly Bully"

mm

Love's revered 1967 album "Forever Changes" will be celebrated in an expanded edition due April 22 via Rhino. The big treat for collectors is a previously unreleased mix of the entire alum save for closer "You Set the Scene," which first appeared on a 2001 Rhino reissue of the set.

In addition, the label has uncovered 10 bonus tracks for the second disc, six of which are previously unreleased. Among them is "Andmoreagain" with an alternate electric backing track, a different mix for outtake "Wonder People (I Do Wonder)" and a cover of Sam The Sham and the Pharoahs' "Wooly Bully."

Here is the bonus material for "Forever Changes" (* = previously unreleased):

Alternate mix:
"Alone Again Or" *
"A House Is Not A Motel" *
"Andmoreagain" *
"The Daily Planet" *
"Old Man" *
"The Red Telephone" *
"Maybe The People Would Be The Times Or Between Clark And Hilldale" *
"Live And Let Live" *
"The Good Humor Man He Sees Everything Like This" *
"Bummer In The Summer" *
"You Set The Scene"

"Wonder People (I Do Wonder)" -- Original Mix (Outtake) *
"Hummingbirds" -- Demo
"A House Is Not A Motel" -- Backing Track *
"Andmoreagain" -- Alternate Electric Backing Track *
"The Red Telephone" -- Tracking Sessions Highlights *
"Wooly Bully" -- Outtake *
"Alone Again Or" -- Mono Single Remix *
"Your Mind And We Belong Together" -- Tracking Sessions Highlights
"Your Mind And We Belong Together"
"Laughing Stock"

My favorite cover of "Wooly Bully" is by Canned Heat and is (only?) available on Rhino's "Uncanned" box set.

floweringtoilet -- you're dead right, it's great these days with so much available, though the thrill of having looked for a record for months/years and then finding a copy was something to experience...

First Love album I heard was FC -- that was one record that was pretty easily available in the UK, as it was a 'minor' hit over here I guess.

At the time I was into that whole Liverpool post punk scene, and I first heard Love mentioned by Julian Cope in interviews, along with loads of other great bands...

For me, it was an article in Rolling Stone that persuaded me to purchase a Love album, the first of which was DaCapo. Stephanie Knows Who, Orange Skies, and 7&7 Is all hit me equally and made me want to pick up FC. She Comes in Colors as well. That was another. FC didn't hit me at first. The first song for me off that album was Between Clark and Hilldale however.

I'm curious...what was the track or tracks that launched you into Love?..
floweringtoilet Posted - 15/04/2008 : 22:21:21
I remember well all the trouble I had tracking down Love's albums when I first got into them in High School back in the mid-80s. I spent lots of time searching everything out, and spent a lot of cash. So I'm not going to complain about Forever Changes being reissued again. I'd like to see some other stuff made more easily available, but that is a separate issue.

You too?....When the re-mastered FC version came out I bought 3...why?..just in case....

I hardly think you can accuse Rhino of 'sickening greed'

I can't wait to hear that Red Telephone tracking session, but I guess there's one born every minute :)

Shame about the box set, maybe they'll find another way to release it (other than physical media) at some point.

I have more than one (ahem) copy of FC already, but I can always use another :)

'At the record company meeting
on their hands a dead star
and ooh, the plans that they weave
and ooh, their sickening greed.

Re-issue! Re-package!
Re-evaluate the songs
double-pack with a photograph
extra track (and a tacky badge)

My own always very reliable Rhino sources have said the same thing for
over a month now regarding a box set; "Highly unlikely; don't hold your breath." A slightly more straightforward way of saying "It's on
indefinite hold." After a dozen or so listens to the new "deluxe"
Forever Changes," disc one remains one of the greatest albums ever
recorded. Disc two, remixed, has hotter vocals, count-ins included,
and a few seconds of continued playing on songs that we're used to hearing fade. "Wooly Bully" is nothing more than a short snippet of
between-takes studio goofing, done entirely for laughs, and is pretty
quickly forgotten. The packaging is definitely beautiful, but most
of us already own a nicely done "Forever Changes" CD, and sad to say,
if you're hoping for previously unheard treasures, or even vastly different gems amongst the remixed, unissued stuff, it's hard to feel
that this is yet another case of "Let's sell it to them again! Some
of them are bound to go for it!" And you know what? We do. But we
the long-time faithful, really do deserve at least a little better
than "Let's sell it to them again...."
