It now seems certain that the imminent re-release of 'Vindicator'will bear the bright blue cover of the original American vinyl version - and so with the bonus tracks as well, we should have the best of all possible worlds!

The real question is how will this reissue differ from the 1997 reissue? The liner notes from the 1997 reissue are horrid, and the printing on the jacket is way too dark. I hope this is given some serious care.

If you want to get your petition on for Reel to Real and Black Beauty head to MySpace.com/manimalvinyl don't mention me however, just do it.

If you were a Love fan in 1972, you were only too aware of the hiatus there had been since 'False Start'. When 'Vindicator' became available on import I made a special 200 mile return trip from Leicester to London to get my hands on it. On arrival I headed straight for the little upstairs Aladdin's cave on Oxford Street that was Virgin - I wonder what happened to them! I was dismayed to find that they had already sold out. By chance I came across another import specialist on the edge of Soho - and they were down to their last copy. Being the original American edition, it had a bright blue gatefold sleeve -I felt as though I had the crown jewels in my hands!

And finally, three short tributes to the album:

"Vindicator's ramshackle ebullience has worn well." - from the 'The Rough Guide To Rock'(published 1999)on the original CD release

"the superbly idiosyncratic Vindicator" - from Brian Hogg's liner notes for the original compilation 'Out There' (1987)

"Vindicator stands as a befitting tribute to the guitar stylings of Hendrix" - from 'The Rock Who's Who' By Brock Helander (1982)

Roll on October 1st!

I dont really enjoy buying records over the internet (no credit card) i have looked for and found Vindicator but decided to be patient and find it in my own time.its paid off in the past with Love & Lee and other records by just coming across them, thats how i got into Love by just coming across the first album by chance after reading an article about them.I am really looking forward to the reissue as I've heard so much about it though this board.

I am not saying that other people are less devoted then I am.Everyone is enjoying the music on his or her way and as they wish.I always get excited when I hear "new" stuff, so don't get me wrong here.
It's a good thing that material is discussed here.

I'v been collecting LOVE for manny years now and I notice that I have stuff which is very easy to get but most people here on the board only read it here to find out that it exsist.I mean there is a lot to find on the internet, don't you people search on the net for stuff? You need to remember that people are different. As you have said,
you are a longstanding Love collector. Other peoples journeys to the group's music may well have differed from yours. And why shouldn't information be shared - surely that's one of the main purposes of a messageboard. The fact that a long deleted Arthur Lee album is to be re-released at a price that you would be hard pressed to find on ebay will be welcome news to other people - people whose devotion to Love is no less sincere or valuable than your own.

Addendum: A year or two back, I ordered, through an Amazon market trader, what seemed to be a reasonably priced copy of 'Vindicator'. The artwork was good and it carried the five bonus tracks. However, there were no liner notes and there were inaccuracies in both the song titles and the session details - it was of course a pirated copy.

Spin and Amazon both have it on pre-order for £9.99

There's a tracklisting at CD Universe who have it at $19.15 with October 15th release date, same as the A&M reissue, 5 bonus tracks, updated liner notes by David Wells.
