Posted - 30/08/2007 : 22:35:18 Today I was given a wonderful book called Riot on Sunset Strip; Rock'n'Roll's last stand in Hollywood. Here is the website: http://www.backbeatuk.com/riot.html The forward is written by Arthur Lee. There are a lot of pictures of those bands of that time and place. There is a picture of Love with somebody playing the flute, and it sure looks like Arthur. I didn't know he played the flute. Anyway, I couldn't wait to tell you guys to check it out. This book is a real treasure to those of us with a heart-felt connection to those beautiful and dreadful times. |

Posted - 10/10/2007 : 00:42:11 At the weekend I spent a few hours in the company of Domenic Priore talking about all kinds of Sunset Strip stuff. I did ask about the picture caption mix ups and he told me it was basically down to jawbone not providing him with a proof copy before they rushed into print. However, the second print run will be corrected and have an extra 20 or so photos that didn't make the first edition. Dom also told me he is working on a companion book that will feature hundreds of photos of the Strip scene which will probably be out in a year or so, after he has completed his current book on East-Side bands of the Sixties.

Posted - 28/09/2007 : 07:10:55 I read bits of the book at a bookstore the other day. Planning to buy it, but (and I know this has been brought up before)...how did the photo captions mix up Arthur and Johnny not once, BUT TWICE?! Cringe-worthy, really. Overall, though, it appears a great and amazingly in-depth read.

Posted - 31/08/2007 : 01:44:39 That's T.J. Cantrell. He played on Da Capo!!
BTW...here's the book signing for 'Riot", hosted by Domenic Priore. It's long but worth it. Domenic introduces Michael Stuart who gives some of his insight to LA in the 60's while he was with The Sons of Adam and LOVE. Listen to the whole thing Barb.
