I think EVERYONE knew Rodney on the Strip back in the late 60's and 70's when I was there. We hung out together at the clubs. Searched for parties and always had a good time. That would be great if he gets a star. He deserves it.
KD: Never mind Rodney, what about Arthur and LOVE getting a star !
Free the stars ! |

Posted - 19/08/2006 : 19:15:13 I highly recommend the documentary about Rodney called Mayor of the Sunset Strip (it's out on DVD.) He was almost comically ubiquitous in l.a. during the sixties and seventies. (He was even a stand-in for Davy Jones on the Monkees tv show.) Anyway, great clips from the era, tons of rock stars singing his praise (Bowie, errr..Cher) and the film paints both a heroic and slightly tragic picture of him....Great to see by his setlist that he's remained both a classisist and on the cutting edge of rock.

HA rumor has it that Sal Mineo passed it to Fowley and Kim gave it to Rodney

Posted - 19/08/2006 : 06:42:36 Rodney B. was on KROQ Kevin and Bean morning show this morning. They were talking about the star he is going to get on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year. Rodney just wanted to talk about Arthur and his genius and impact on music. Rodney ROQ"s

Thanks for posting this Merlyn...it brings back memories of the LA Punk Scene & the Paisely Underground(Rodney's seen them all come & go....and he's still only 20 years old.Amazing!).
I'll have to dig out my old copies of 'Slash'magazine,if my daughter hasn't already 'borrowed' them......Nostalgia ain't what it used to be!
