Steve64 - hope you're playing 'Kimble' really LOUD - I was listening the night Peel first broadcast that session - totally mad, totally brilliant. The memory's stuck with me ever since.. reckon I'm going to be parting with my pennies very soon. Essential.

I have not played Kimble yet as it is on Disc 4! only got to Disc 3 so far! I used to listen to the John Peel show a lot from the late 70's onwards and used to tape his shows! I got my set from http://www.amazon.co.uk just over £20 including postage for 6 cds and booklet..

well like you i was blown away with 'is this it' and still feel it's one of my favourite albums and an album that had a big effect on my musical 'tastes'. But i was disappointed with 'room on fire' too, it just didn't have that edge to it, apart from reptilia. The third album is growing on me and i feel personally that it's better than the 2nd album, but nowhere near 'is this it'. Although '15 minutes' and 'vision or division' would not look out of place on 'is this it'. Worth having anyway in my view

Anaïs Mitchell-Hymns for the Exiled (2004)
...Beautiful, powerful stuff, often described as a modern female counterpart to early Bob Dylan. I can't say I totally disagree with that assessment. Saw her live at a house-party last Easter. She's the real deal.

been listening to Santana's "Abraxas", which i apreciate more now than then! this is a great album. and the Flying Burrito Brothers' albums. all of them with G.Parsons, plus the double Gram Parsons solo albums cd. that was my day yesterday. also did Hendrix's " Are You Experienced". i thought my neighbors were gone, but realized after my blow-out orgy of music, that they had been home
