Intro James "Scotty" Scott |
Photos: The New Guy |
This gig was advertised as "A benefit for Scotty" A lot of people don't know who "Scotty" is, so here's a bit of background: James Scott, who was a friend of Arthur's since the early 60's. James' nickname is "Scotty," and yes, he is the same Scotty that's mentioned on Vindicator in "He Knows A Lot Of Good Women, or Scotty's Song." Scotty was also a close friend of Jimi Hendrix's, and he helped out with the definitive Hendrix bio "'Scuse Me While I Kiss The Sky."Arthur wheeled Scotty out and introduced him; Scotty is suffering from terminal cancer. Scotty gave a very spirited short talk, mentioning Hendrix. Arthur was funny -- did a big thumbs down at that, then when Scotty caught him did a thumbs up... VERY THUMBS DOWN, however was the fact that the dressing room didn't have a lock on it and while the band were on stage for about 105 minutes or so, someone went through The Diary's pockets in his shorts and stole a bunch of cash and his cellphone. The KF was very aboveboard on this and I'm told they are replacing both for The Diary. I'd say that's very commendable, especially after the bogus response from BB King's club when they seemed to avoid all responsibility for any troubles that ensued due to their lack of ethics. Anyway, it was an interesting show... and we hope to see a few more before those guys head back to that damn island 6000 miles away from home!!! The New Guy |
