I kind of like what whoever the floutist for Focus did with the "Hocus Pocus" solo bursts. Each is brief, but together they constitute quite an inspired performance.Always must give a nod to the huge drum break on "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida".A bit of a challenge to make selctions here without wanting to cloud the page with too many obvious ones.(Clapton,Hendrix,Page,etc.)However,I WILL bring into the fold Jimmy Page's breathtaking "violin bow" piece from "Song Remains the same".Full of mind blowing awe both on record and in the film. |

You know,I logged on today almost expressly because I realized I forgot to mention the classic Bonham performance in addendum to the Page contribution to "Song Remains".You know what's mighty musical masterpiece?Elton John's earth shattering piano prelude to the lyrical portion of "Love Lies Bleeding" from the eseential "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" album.Usually this category is mostly for drummers and lead guitarists.I like to give some of the better rock keyboard players a nod once in a while..The rocking piano interludes of Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis were monumental in the early days of rock and roll's creative evolution. |

An instrument not often thought of, but I love the mournful, expressive harmonica offerings of Toots Thielmans from the Midnight Cowboy soundtrack and background theme music in the actual movie.

Love the "Midnight Cowboy Theme",but I have always enjoyed the Ferrant and Teicher 45 remke even more.Speaking of what elements the harmonica can add, let's not forget Magic Dick's contribution to J. Geils' "Whammer Jammer".Also, without question the most classic bass solo ever has been John Entwhistle's simplistic yet stunning job on the Who's earth shattering "My Generation".Ravi Shankar's sitar showcases have been nothing less than otherworldy.

Kinda like the bass on Paperback Writer, though it only solos for a couple seconds before the final chorus! |

Paul was a solo of greatest proportions on most everything...one of the best ever!

I always like that little "diddle" Macca did at the end of "And Your Bird Can Sing". |

I like the VERY LAST second of "Fixing a hole" in mono where you can hear the last of McCartneys vocal RIGHT AT THE LAST FADE of the song
Check it out. Don't think you can hear it in the stereo Pepper
His best vocals of all time are the scat singing for the last 4 minutes of Hey Jude!
